Estates Management
Managing estates on reserve can be complex. While estates management is not an official responsibility for lands managers under RLEMP, they often find themselves supporting community members through this process when a loved one passes away.
Our Association provides hands-on training, guidance on ISC forms, and one-on-one support to assist lands managers and estates officers in empowering their communities. The resources below are designed to help you learn more about the Indian Act process and the benefits of having a Will, and to share this knowledge with your community.

FNLMAQL Personal Estates Planning Guide
This guide is designed as a best-practice resource for First Nation members living on reserve in Quebec. It helps organize important personal information and supports two key purposes: preparing your Will, whether with a notary, lawyer, or on your own, and assisting your executor or administrator in carrying out your wishes.
Please note: This guide is for information purposes only and is not a substitute for legal advice. Consulting a qualified notary or lawyer is strongly recommended. Once completed, keep this document in a safe place and inform someone you trust where it can be found.
